Episode #20
Writing fearlessly is a great slogan. Unfortunately, this one is not from me, but from my lyric guru
Pat Pattison.
Pat teaches lyric writing and poetry at Berklee College of Music. I highly recommend all of his books on writing song lyrics.
And because Mr. Pattison doesn't pay me for this wonderful advertising, I'll stop right now.
I suspect almost everyone who is creative is afraid of embarrassing themselves, ashamed of what they have brought to light.
It is absolutely necessary to overcome this bullshit.
Watch out! Here comes the pro tip of the week. Ready?
Once your reputation is ruined, you can live your life without any worries.
No matter what I do, I can't control what others think about it. But I can control what I do. At least most of the time.
So let's concentrate on the work and leave all the other nonsense aside.

The Lyrics of THE WITCH DOC
The song I'm working on right now is called THE WITCH DOC. To help me get started, I started simply with a lyric structure or form.
That's a pretty cool approach. Just take good lyrics from another artist and look closely: Number of lines, length of lines and rhyme scheme.
It's a pretty abstract start, but you'll get a good start and won't get lost while you’re writing.
You can go into more detail and analyze the rhythm and the exact nature of the rhyme, but maybe don't set the boundaries too tight.
Here is a small section from THE WITCH DOC.
I am your witch doc
Singin' slow from a deep lung
I'm gonna get you in the right mood
To be hungry for the doctor's food
You know that I'm your witch doc
I rock when the wind blows hot
I'm gonna get you in the right mood
Singin' slow from a deep lung
Singin' slow from a deep lung
To be continued ...

Of course, this is only if the artist or their label provide these little pieces of art.
